Reiki therapy is a holistic, gentle energywork process that assists in physical, mental and emotional healing. It is a simple, effective and powerful method of natural healing.

Reiki (pr: Ray-key) means "Universal Life Force". The system allows the practitioner to easily channel this loving energy through the light touch of the hands on the body. The hands-on technique applies natural vital energy in a systematic treatment that covers all organs of the body.

Reiki therapy helps to alleviate pain, fatigue, stress and emotional disorders. It has eased the effects from all types of illnesses, both acute and chronic.

A treatment can replenish body energies and restore mental and emotional clarity and focus. Reiki not only works to rid the body and mind of symptoms of disease, it also treats the root cause. Reiki harmonizes and balances the body. This results in a feeling of relaxation and well-being.

Reiki is an ancient healing art rediscovered in Japan in the 1800's by Dr. Mikao Usui. Through an investigative process that led him to sanskrit texts, Usui stumbled on healing practices used by Buddha and Jesus. Usui's techniques re-awaken and re-open the healing channel within the Practitioner to allow for the transfer of the vital life force.

Reiki is currently practiced in many countries. It can work in conjunction with both traditional and alternative medicine.

Reiki is taught in 3 levels or 'degrees'.  First degree covers the history and philosophy of Reiki and gives the hand positions for working on oneself and for working on others.  Second degree imparts the power symbols and gives instruction in their usage.  Third degree gives further instruction in symbol usage and teaches the student how to perform the 'attunement' procedure. In each degree, the teacher performs a series of attunements upon the student.  When done correctly, this process opens and clears the subtle energy channels within the student and connects him/her with the energy lineage of this sacred healing process.  As each teacher weaves stories and anecdotes in their instruction relating their own Reiki experience as well as others, this flavors each class with a uniqueness exclusive to that instructor.

ARMA offers one further class-- the Certified Teacher Training course. Upon completion of this course, one joins the membership of ARMA, receives authorization to use the manuals and certificates provided by headquarters, agrees to stay true to the Usui system of Reiki in teaching and agrees to adhere to the tuition structure set by ARMA.
