A Few Words About Ted:
Dr. Crom is a retired engineering-contractor
with an interest in antique clocks, watches, tools and books. He enjoys
reading, writing, researching, publishing and lecturing about his interests
in horology, ornamental and wood turning. He also gives frequent demonstrations
at craft, tool school and hobby shows from his trailer-mounted eighteenth
century wood-turning shop.
Reseach for these books:
The information presented in Dr. Crom's
six books is developed almost exclusively from primary sources including
presonal reseach in the many libraries, museums and other repositories in
the United States, England, France, Switzerland, Italy, Sweden, Denmark,
Germany, and the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia. Personal examination
of thousands of horological and other old tools and hundreds of early trade
catalogues, including those in his own vast collection, permits accurate
evaluation of those items. many of the reprints of old catalogues, books,
and other printed material comes from his extensive library. Other reprints
and photographs have been provided, often at considerable cost, from public
and private collections, oibraties, and museums throughout the world.
These books represent some forty-five years of study and collecting
by Dr. Crom, and continuing with regular corrections and updates on these
internet web pages. The extensive information is not available from any
other source. These books are an excellent reference and collection of information
to all levels of collectors, libraries, museums, restoreers, and historians.
Dr. Crom's purpose in self publishing and assigning world wide marketing/sales rights to Brady Crom:
The preparation and publishing
of these expensive books is a non-profit enjoyable hobby by the author.
The books consist of heavy coated archival paper to ensure long life, bright
color pages and clear printing, with a durable case-bound buckram cover.
The books are available only from the Brady Crom (Ted's son) at slightly over production
and print costs, thus avoiding the national book-seller mark-up of usually more than
40%. Shipment of the books in specially designed damage resistant package
assures pristine condition upon arrival anywhere in the world.
