Ilex "shelling"  Holly..... Left view taken in March 1998 right after branch on left side was snapped off. I had heard that these were brittle, now I believe! Right image shows long, newly grown branch from the location of the damage. Repositioned and potted, this photo was taken in November 1998, 8 months after the first photo.
