We have been studying pitch. Pitch is the highness and lownes of sound.
In music, we use the letters A,B,C,D,E,F, and G to designate pitches. To
learn to listen to and hear the differences in pitch, we had to tap on
eight bottles to find the pitches from low to high. Some of the bottles
had varying amounts of water in them to create different pitches. Once
we had the bottles in the correct order, we were then able to play "Hop,
Old Squirrel" on them.

We have also been learning about form, the way a piece of music is
organized. This month we're learning about Da Capo al Fine, which means
to go back to the beginning and sing to the End, or Fine. When you go
back and repeat a section, the form that is created is ABA. An example
of a song in ABA form would be "Shoo, Fly, Don't Bother Me."

A
Shoo, fly, don't bother me,
Shoo, fly, don't bother me,
Shoo, fly, don't bother me,
For I belong to somebody.
B
I feel, I feel, I feel.
I feel like a morning star,
I feel, I feel, I feel.
I feel like a morning star. Oh.
A
Shoo, fly, don't bother me,
Shoo, fly, don't bother me,
Shoo, fly, don't bother me,
For I belong to somebody.
