QUESTIONS 1 to 10
New Rules
[1] 4th down and 2 at the B45. The referee makes the ball ready for play.
- (a) Team "A" substitutes their kicking team after waiting for 10 seconds and runs directly to the line of scrimmage.
- (b) Team "A" substitutes immediately by running quickly and directly to the line of scrimmage.
- (c) Team "A" leisurely runs in their kicking team immediately allowing the defense to make their substitutions. Then with 15 seconds left in the 25 second count - they quickly substitute a QB for the kicker.
- (d) Team "A" after waiting for 10 second and for the second time in the game runs in their kicking team directly to the line of scrimmage. Team "B" thinking that they will be caught with too many men on the field calls a time out.
[2] 1st and 10 at the A30. There are 3 minutes left in the game and "A" is behind 21-14. They run a normal first down play - then team "A", in a hurry up offense rushes quickly to the line of scrimmage.
- (a) They make no substitutions and the play gains 10 yards.
- (b) They make a couple of substitutions and the play gains 10 yards.
[3] 3rd and 10 at the A30. There are 4 minutes left in the game and "A" is behind 21-14.
- (a) Team "A" QB on the field request a time out.
- (b) Team "A" Head Coach on the sideline requests a timeout.
- (c) Team "A" Assistant Head Coach requests a timeout.
- (d) Team "A" Head Coach is in the press box and has designated his Assistant Head Coach as the person who can call timeouts from the sideline.
[4] Team "A" is offside on a free kick.
- (a) The kick is a touchback.
- (b) The kick is run to the B30.
- (c) The kick is run to the B15.
[5] In an attempt to block a Field Goal - a member of Team "B".
- (a) Starting 4 yards behind the LOS runs to the LOS and times his jump to block the kick. He blocks the kick and then lands on his teammate.
- (b) Starting 4 yards behind the LOS runs to the LOS and times his jump to block the kick. He blocks the kick and then lands on an opponent.
- (c) Starting 4 yards behind the LOS runs to the LOS and times his jump to block the kick. He blocks the kick and then lands on the ground hitting no other player.
- (d) Starting 1 yard behind the LOS moves up one step and times his jump to block the kick. He blocks the kick and then lands on an opponent.
- (e) Starting 1 yard behind the LOS moves up one step and times his jump to block the kick. He blocks the kick and then lands on his teammate.
[6] In an attempt to block an Extra Point - a member of Team "B".
- (a) Starting 4 yards behind the LOS runs to the LOS and times his jump to block the kick. He blocks the kick and then lands on an opponent.
- (b) Starting 1 yard behind the LOS moves up one step and times his jump to block the kick. He blocks the kick and then lands on an opponent.
[7] 4th and 10 on the A40. Team "A" from a scrimmage kick formation.
- (a) Has the kicker throw a pass that simulates the kick. On the play, while the ball is in the air - a Team "B" player knocks down the receiver at the B40.
- (b) Has the kicker throw a pass in the flat about 15 yards downfield in an attempt to make a first down. Team "B" interferes with the receiver while the ball is in the air at the B40.
[8] 2nd and 10 on the A30. The QB throws a pass to the Tight End who is downed at the A40. While the pass was in the air the Defensive End.
- (a) Is blocked so that his uncontrolled momentum takes him a distance of 2-steps into the QB's Thigh.
- (b) Is blocked so that his momentum takes him towards the QB - he hits the QB with a forearm in the head.
- (c) Is blocked so that his momentum takes him towards the QB - he hits the QB in the shoulder, taking two steps after the ball is released.
- (d) Is blocked but the block does not force him into the QB yet he hits the QB after taking at least two steps after the ball was released.
[9] 3rd and 10 at the A20. The Defensive Back intercepts the ball and is running towards Team "A" end zone. He gets hit at the A4 and fumbles. On a dead run a Team "A" player picks the ball up at the A4 and his momentum carries him into the end zone where he is tackled trying to run the ball out of the end zone.
[10] On the opening Kickoff of the game - two players of each team are wearing legal towels.
