31. An invalid fair catch signal is not a foul. However, following a waving signal, a receiver may not block or otherwise foul an opponent unless he touches or is touched by the ball. B17 touches the ball so he is eligible to legally block an opponent. The push by B17 is legal since he is eligible to touch the ball. It is not illegal use of hands since B17 is attempting to recover the kick that he is eligible to touch. B's ball on B's 3, 1st and 10.

32. Team B is the defensive team so the live ball by B40 is considered an incidental face mask foul. The run ended behind the neutral zone so the basic spot is the previous spot. The spot of B40's foul is not relevant. The penalty does not carry an automatic first down. The distance penalty results in a first down. A's ball on B's 35, 1st and 10.

33. The end of A22's run is the goal line which is the basic spot. The foul by A65 is a live ball foul. The foul occurs before A22 scores. Besides, holding cannot be a dead ball foul. The penalty is enforced from B's goal line. A's ball on B's 10, 2nd and goal.

34. The punt crosses the neutral zone. The punt is touched by B27 beyond the neutral zone. Since the ball has crossed the neutral zone, the ball becomes dead when caught or recovered by any Team A player. The ball becomes dead on A's 18. It would be B's ball on A's 18 if B27 did not touch the ball. A's ball on A's 18, 1st and 10.

35. This is a fumble by A1, not A28, which could be relevant on 4th down plays and trys. The ball becomes dead when touched by A37 while his foot is touching the sideline even though the ball is in the end zone. The foul by B44 is a dead ball foul and is enforced from the succeeding spot, A's 20. B44 may be disqualified. The impetus came from Team A. Safety. Team B scores two points. A's ball on A's 35, free kick.

36. The holding foul by B28 is not a postscrimmage kick foul since the foul occurs less than three yards beyond the neutral zone. An invalid fair catch signal is not a foul but the ball becomes dead when caught or recovered by either team. The ball becomes dead on A's 30. If the penalty is accepted, it will be enforced from the basic spot, A's 2 which is the previous spot. It would be A's ball on A's 12, 4th and 12. The period would be extended by an untimed down. Team A will most likely decline the penalty unless they want to attempt a Hail Mary. The period would end. No penalties would be enforced to start the extra period. The first extra period would start according to rule.

37. A82 did not foul by going voluntarily out of bounds but did render himself an ineligible receiver. He regains his eligibility if a legal forward pass is touched by a Team B player. A82 did foul when he touches the legal forward pass before touching by a Team B player. B33 commits a live ball face mask foul. The penalties are offsetting. A's ball on A's 38, 2nd and 6.

38. B1 commits a roughing the passer foul. The fumble goes out of bounds in advance of the spot of the fumble, A's 44. The ball is returned to the spot of the fumble. The 15-yard penalty is enforced from the end of A82's run, A's 44, since there was no change of team possession during the down. The clock stops when the ball goes out of bounds and starts on the ready for play. A's ball on B's 41, 1st and 10.

39. The pass is incomplete since B40 did not land inbounds. It is not relevant that B40 may have comedown inbounds if he was not pushed by A89. B40 then simply loses control of a dead ball. A's ball on B's 20, 4th and 10.

40. The end of A33's run is A's 40 which is the basic spot for fouls that occur during the run or during the subsequent loose ball. A67 may push, but may not pull, an opponent in the back above the waist to recover the fumble. The advance by A67 is legal. A's ball on A's 45, 1st and 10.

41. The ball remained in B's end zone with Team A providing the impetus. The result of the play is a touchback. The basic spot for any fouls that occur after B42's interception is B's 20. The 15-yard penalty for A15's clipping foul is enforced from the basic spot. The basic spot would be B's goal line if Team B provided the impetus. B's ball on B's 35, 1st and 10.

42. The pass by A34 is a legal forward pass. A4 recovered A87's 4th down fumble in advance of the spot of the fumble. The ball becomes dead and is returned to the spot of the fumble, B's 35. This spot is in advance of the line to gain. A's ball on B's 35, 1st and 10.

43. A36 fumbles beyond the neutral zone. The basic spot for fouls during A36's run or during the fumble is the end of the run, A's 18. The ball becomes dead on A's 25. The spot of the foul, A's 16, is behind the basic spot. The 10-yard penalty is enforced (half the distance) from the spot of the foul. A's ball on A's 8, 2nd and 15.

44. The ball becomes dead when recovered by A25 on B's 3. All subsequent action was during a dead ball. B's ball on B's 3, 1st and 10.

45. The invalid fair catch signal is not a foul. However, the ball becomes dead when caught or recovered by a Team A or Team B player. The ball becomes dead when recovered by B40 on B's 12. It may be reasonable to assume that B40 did not commit a delay of game foul (illegal advance with a dead ball) or that the tackle was not a personal foul. B's ball on B's 12, 1st and 10.

46. The ball is ruled to have gone ten yards when touched by B16 on A's 46. The bat by B16 is legal since the ball is batted backward while the ball is in the field of play. The clock starts in the last two minutes of each half when B16 touches the ball. This is not a free kick out of bounds since a Team B player touched the ball inbounds. A43 can recover but cannot catch the ball since the ball hit the ground. B's ball on A's 49, 1st and 10.

47. QB A1 has committed an intentional grounding foul. The spot of the pass is the spot of the foul. The 5-yard penalty is enforced from the spot of the foul, A's 13, and carries a loss of down. A's ball on A's 8, 3rd and 29.

48. A defensive player may use his hand or arm to ward off or block an opponent after the forward pass has been touched by any player. Team A provided the impetus for the ball being in B's end zone. The basic spot for any foul that occurs during B28's run that does not end in the field of play or during the subsequent fumble is B's 20. The spot of the B53's foul is behind the basic spot. The 10-yard penalty is enforced (half the distance) from the spot of the foul, B's 8. B's ball on B's 4, 1st and 10.

49. B19's run ends at A's 30. The advance of B19's fumble by A63 for a touchdown is legal. The penalty for the live ball holding foul by B54 is declined. The penalty for the dead ball foul by B71, if accepted, is enforced on the try. Team A touchdown. If the penalty is declined, A's ball on B's 3, try. 50. The fouls by B25 and Team A both are live ball fouls occurring at the snap and offset each other. The face mask foul by B18 is also a live ball foul and is combined with the other live ball fouls to remain offsetting fouls. A's ball on A's 20, 3rd and 8.

51. A88 commits an illegal position foul at the snap. He is also an ineligible receiver. B18's run ends at A's 30 which is the basic spot. A74 and B18 both commits live ball face mask fouls. Team B did not foul before last gaining team possession. Team B will decline offsetting fouls and take the ball with the penalty enforced for their face mask foul. It must be assumed that B18's foul occurs at A's 30 although the foul could have occurred behind the basic spot. B's ball on A's 45, 1st and 10.

52. A snap is a backward pass. QB A11 simply muffed a backward pass. If QB A11 fumbled the ball, the ball would become dead when recovered by A33. The pass is a legal forward pass. Team A scores six points. The score is A32-B30. Team B will not leave the field since they could possibly score two points on the try. A's ball on B's 3, try.

53. Two live ball fouls by the same team occur during the down. The end of A42's run is B's goal line, the basic spot. The penalty for A34's clipping foul would be enforced from B's goal line since the foul occurs in advance of the basic spot. Team B will accept the penalty for the illegal formation foul. A's ball on the 50, 3rd and 13.

54. A42 fumbles on a 4th down play prior to a change of team possession. A42 recovers his own fumble so the ball remains in play. A42 advanced for a first down. A's ball on B's 1, 1st and goal.

55. A82 is an ineligible receiver since he voluntarily stepped on the sideline. B18 did not foul because A82 is not an eligible receiver. Touchback assuming that the ball is not completely over the field of play when B18's knee touches the ground. B's ball on B's 20, 1st and 10.

56. Team B will decline the penalty for the illegal formation foul. B28's foul is a dead ball foul since it occurred after B31 scored. Touchdown for Team B. The penalty is enforced on the try. B's ball on A's 18, try.

57. The handing was not completed. This is a fumble by QB A11 and not A74. B92 may legally use his hand or arm to ward off or block an opponent in an attempt to reach a backward pass, fumble or kick that he is eligible to touch. B92 may advance. B's ball on A's 12, 1st and 10.

58. The ball becomes dead when a simultaneous catch or recovery of a live ball occurs. The ball becomes dead when the simultaneous recovery of the fumble occurs on A's 10. There are no live ball fouls so the down is over. The score is not tied so the penalty for B29's dead ball foul does not carry over to the first extra period. The final score is A21-B20.

59. The end of B38's run is A's goal line, the basic spot. B24's foul is in B's end zone. The penalty is enforced from the spot of the foul since the foul occurs after Team B possession. Safety. The penalty distance does not carry over to the succeeding spot since this is a safety. Team A scores two points. B's ball on B's 20, free kick.

60. The ball did not touch the ground in B's end zone so B24 may advance. The recovery by A42 is legal. However, A42 commits a foul when he goes out of bounds voluntarily and returns inbounds. It is a foul the instant that A42 steps inbounds anytime during the down. Team B will accept the 5-yard penalty to prevent the touchdown. A's ball on A's 45, 4th and 9.
