Dutch Shepherd Breed Test Rules & Regulations
Class A, 3 to 6 month puppies (BST)
3 to 6 month puppies will be critiqued on their general appearance, size, structure, movement which will be given to the owner for their own use. There will be a little puppy temperament test following the conformation critique.
PUPPY TT Test - 1. A stranger approaches the pup & handler. 2. The pup and handler walk through a group of people. 3. A gun is shot from very far away. 4. Stuffed toys are place out on the field for the puppy to walk through and play with if they want. 5. A can of pennies is thrown on the ground about 10 feet away from the puppy 6. A small towel on a string will be used to test the puppies drives to chase and bite.
Class B, 7 to 12 month puppies (BST)
Puppies - 7 to 12 month old puppies will have the same test as the 3 to 6 month puppies except the gun shot is a little closer and the can of pennies will be thrown 5 feet away from the pup. You can choose your object for the chase and bite exercise. The same awards are given.
Ofcourse we understand these are puppies and the gun will not be loud and will be a good distance away in both categories.
Class C1, Young Dog Class (BST I)
This will be for dogs over 12 months who are just starting out. Dogs of any age over 12 months are welcome to this test because even the older dogs may not do any bite/play work or may just be starting out in it.
There will be a Conformation critique which is not a judgment but for your use.
The temperament test will consist of the dog and handler walking through a crowd. The gun fire will be shot after you leave the group of people. There will be some footing articles to walk over such as a plastic tarp and a metal crate opened flat. Some big articles will be placed on the field for you and your dog to walk by. Such as a big garbage bag stuffed with news paper, a chair, an open umbrella and a few more items to test your dogs reaction. For the bite/play exercise you may choose what you would like to do. Ex: Hold your dog on leash and have someone use a tug or sleeve for attraction and let your dog bite or just use the towel on the string.
Class C2, (BST II)
Dogs 12 months and older with out any bite/play exercises. The Conformation/Critique and the Temperament Test will be the same as Class C.
Prizes for this class will be for soundness
Class D, Adult dogs (BST III)
The Temperament Test will be the same as Class C with a few more obstacles to go by or maybe even one to walk over. The Bite/play test will be a short routine that you and your dog can do.
There will be an attack out of a blind towards you and your dog giving your dog the chance to bite. There will be one courage test and it can be from what ever sport you are in. And one run way bite so your dog can chase and bite.
It is not necessary to have total control over your dog for these exercises and you have the option to leave the leash on. You may use your own decoy/helper to give your dog the opportunity to demo their best. I sleeve or a suit is your choice.
Judging is done on Temperament and Team Work.
