Greetings, one and all.

While I hope my stories are of more interest to you than any personal info about me, I was instructed to provide a bio, so here it is:

I was born at a very early age.

Seventeen years later, I escaped from Grand Prairie, Texas by quitting high school in the tenth grade and joining the Army to dodge the draft.
There's nothing wrong with the concept above. The Army at that time offered a two-year enlistment with a choice of jobs guaranteed if you could qualify for your choice. That option seemed far better to me than being drafted as a grunt, being sent to prison for refusing to serve, or sneaking across the Canadian border with -- at that time -- no chance of returning to the US without being imprisoned.
Some of my military occupations and experiences have been blended into a number of my ebooks, so I won't belabor you with them here.

Anti-Vietnam war sentiments made early seventies a bad time to be a recently-discharged veteran in the United States.
Unable to reach those who instigated and conducted the war, the barking masses set their sights considerably lower and simply harrassed anyone known to have been -- willingly or not -- in uniform.
After my car had been vandalized in a campus parking lot a second time -- "baby burner" scratched into the paint, tires cut, windows smashed -- and after I had endured enough other such cowardly, anonymous abuse, I decided to postpone college and visit Europe for a few years.
For the record: I never burned babies, nor did I rape and pillage. Such activities simply never fell within my job descriptions.

In Germany, I took a job as an ambulance driver at 2nd General Army Hospital in Landstuhl and signed up for USAFE college courses at Ramstein Air Force Base.
A few months later, I was recruited as both a covert courier and what was then called a "local hire" to provide impromptu assistances for people involved in intelligence work for the US government in Western Europe.
When USAFE labs in three subjects became locally unavailable, I again put college on hold. My employers saw this as an opportunity to expand my role somewhat, so I left the ambulance job to work full-time for the agency.

They kept me busy. To be brief, I've since been involved with two US intelligence services, worked with three armies, one mercenary agency, and an air force, and have taken part in several 'police actions' on three continents.
Sometimes it feels as if I've been everywhere that there's dirt enough to stand on.

Interests:

Except for womens' beach volleyball, team sports bore me.
Nowadays hang gliding is becoming as regulated and lawsuit-conscious as all the other sports, so here's a pic of how we did it before bureaucrats took over:

Other Info:

I prefer the company of women and cats.
I thoroughly support Womens' Rights issues -- particularly reproductive rights -- largely because of all the flak I've received as a result of my vasectomy in 1971.
Too many people don't seem to understand that not wanting children is still a legal, if not altogether accepted, personal privilege and choice.

Today I'm a webmaster and the author of articles, poetry, and SF ebooks, some of which have been previously published by paying publishers.
